Chief Financial Officer

Valle del Sol Community Health (valledelsol.com) a leader in whole-person care with a rich legacy of community impact, seeks a strong CFO to lead the overall management of the agency’s accounting department in managing the agency’s financial and accounting policies and procedures, systems and processes, tax and regulatory requirements, agency controls, ongoing financial modeling, and annual budget. The CFO serves as a staff representative to the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. The CFO represents the agency in community organizations or planning groups, and with other agencies, coalitions, donors, and public officials.

The CFO serves in an executive administrative capacity assisting the CEO and Executive Team in developing a long-term strategic financial plan that helps the agency reach out strategic goals and other issues such as the financial evaluation of programs, partnerships, etc. The CEO develops and maintains timely and accurate financial statements and reports (monthly, quarterly, annually) that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ensures that all statutory requirements of the organization are met, according to their deadlines, including, but not limited to, Corporation Status, Tax Exemptions, Charitable Status, Withholding Tax Payments, and Corporate Taxes. Ensures annual filing of Form 990 and related IRS forms; establishes guidelines for budget and forecast preparation and prepares the annual budget in consultation with the management team and the Finance Committee of the Board.

Valle del Sol (VdS) Community Health was founded in 1970 to fill a gap in behavioral health and social services available to the Latino community and underserved populations with nowhere else to turn. We serve all communities by providing services that are culturally appropriate. For more than 50 years, we have led the way in behavioral health, human services, and leadership development. In 2012, Valle expanded services to include primary care to wholistically meet the healthcare needs of the community by assisting thousands of men, women, children, families, and the elderly through counseling, substance abuse treatment, support services, primary care, and nationally recognized leadership development programs.

  • You have a Master’s degree or CPA certification
  • Six years of executive management experience in finance, accounting, budgeting or related field, or a commensurate combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of six years of management and supervisory experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills and business writing experience
  • Must have or able to obtain valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
  • Knowledge of Windows environment & Microsoft Office
  • Understand databases and basic tenets of computerization
  • Understand managed-care principles and their application
