Psychotherapist

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct clinical mental health and bio-psychosocial assessment to clients presenting with mental health concerns, adjustment disorders, and comorbid substance abuse disorders.
  • Diagnose mental health and comorbid substance abuse disorders in accordance with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (current edition).
  • Collaborate with clients to devise and enact a client-directed treatment plan for mental health treatment.
  • Provide individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy in accordance with an individual’s treatment plan and presenting issues/concerns. This treatment will be provided at an interval appropriate to the acuity of their mental health condition.
  • Maintain the client’s charts in a timely manner and document all clinical contacts in the electronic health record.
  • Provide case management to clients as needed, to facilitate their treatment and attainment of treatment goals.
  • Provide referrals to other treatment professionals, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate care with other providers/agencies/parents/teachers, etc., as necessary.
  • Attend weekly (as able) group supervision meetings with other behavioral health and substance abuse professionals.
  • As necessary, report any abuse and/or safety concerns for clients to the appropriate agency or authorities.
  • Maintain client confidentiality in accordance with HIPPA, AZBBHE rules and statutes, and ACA/ACSW ethical guidelines.
  • As necessary, consult with other NACA behavioral health and substance abuse professionals and clinical director to improve client care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirement: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field which would qualify the candidate to become licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Arizona. Licensed to provide behavioral health services at the associate level, or willing to become licensed at the associate level in the State of Arizona. Preferred: licensed in Arizona at the independent level to provide behavioral services.

Preferred: At least two years of experience providing psychotherapy to diverse ethnic populations (preferably Native Americans). Experience with using an electronic health record preferred. Native American language skills preferred. Must have a strong desire and interest to work with the population of this job classification.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

A Level I Fingerprint Clearance, CPR/First Aid, and HIPAA Certification (can be acquired before and/or after hire). Possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License. Must complete/pass background check & fingerprint clearance in accordance with NACA policy.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Psychotherapist consults with the supervisor and mental health and substance abuse staff periodically for case consultation and review. Psychotherapist uses initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions, referring deviations, problems, and unfamiliar situations not covered by instruction to the supervisor for assistance. The supervisor reviews work and methods, ensuring that work is technically accurate, and in compliance with instructions or established policies and procedures.

  • Ability to work with persons in crisis or that expresses suicidal ideations.
  • Must have multicultural background or training in this realm.
  • Must be able to work cohesively with the BH team.

Salary:  $50,000 – $55,000 depending upon licensure
