is a Strong Workforce
Workforce
The Alliance offers several resources to assist our Community Health Centers (CHCs) with recruitment and retention of providers and staff, as well as connecting students with learning experiences in our CHCs. View our core workforce activities below.
Is your organization a member of the Alliance? Contact Janeth Gamez at janethg@aachc.org to have your job openings posted on our website.
The Alliance offers a limited number of opportunities through our AZ SEARCH Program for students and residents to experience medicine in an underserved primary care setting. Our training sites can be found throughout the state and offer placements for the following primary care disciplines:
- Physicians
- Physician Assistants
- Nurse Practitioners
- Dentists
- Dental Hygienists
- Psychiatry/Mental Health
We work with training sites to support participants completing a community-based project and assist in identifying possible candidates for future employment. Our placements provide students and residents the opportunity to:
- Train in culturally/socioeconomically diverse communities
- Work with patients and communities to help them reach beneficial health decisions
- Learn about culturally competent, community-responsive healthcare
- Gain skills and learn about local resources by working with community mentors

The Alliance, in partnership with the Arizona State Primary Care Office, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders, provides our CHCs with training and technical assistance on effective recruitment and retention strategies through a variety of learning opportunities, including our Annual Recruitment & Retention Conference and the National Rural Recruitment and Retention Network (3RNet) AZ Collaborative.
The Alliance supports our CHCs with staff development and training, primarily through the facilitation of True Colors Workshops by a Certified True Colors Staff Trainer. True Colors is a model of personality identification that lays the foundation for relationship building, effective communication, and teamwork. You can request a workshop for your staff by clicking here.
The Alliance partners with the Arizona Department of Health Services Primary Care Office to facilitate training and education on loan repayment and scholarship programs including the Arizona State Loan Repayment Program, the National Health Service Corps Program, and the Nurse Corps Program. These programs offer financial incentives such as loan repayment and/or scholarships in exchange for service in Health Professional Shortage Areas in Arizona. They also provide assistance with locating jobs in high-need communities. We encourage primary care medical, dental, and behavioral health providers working in an underserved area to apply. Check out this interactive map for NHSC Job Opportunities.
